The University of Georgia Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant is offering a Segment 2 Seafood Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) training course for seafood processors, packers, wholesalers, and importers. Under U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Georgia regulations, seafood companies are required to have at least one employee with seafood HACCP training or experience to develop and implement HACCP plans specifically for their product(s) and facility.

This Segment 2 course will be held in the conference room of the Center for Food Safety (Melton Building, 350 Woodruff Drive, Griffin, 30223) located on the Griffin campus of the University of Georgia.  We strongly recommend you be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 along with any boosters, if appropriate, prior to the course.  You are welcome to wear a mask while indoors, but this is optional.

REQUIRED PREREQUISITE:

You must register separately for and finish the online Segment 1 seafood HACCP course through Cornell University prior to May 9.

Course Outline

WHEN: Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

WHERE: Center for Food Safety (Melton Building, 350 Woodruff Drive, Griffin, 30223) located on the Griffin campus of the University of Georgia.

Additional Information/Requirements:

  • The course is taught in English.
  • You must be present and fully participate during the entire day to receive a HACCP certificate which will be emailed to you by the Association of Food and Drug Officials (www.afdo.org/seafoodhaccp).
  • Upon completing your registration you will recieve and emailed confirmation. 
  • Textbook costs are included in the registration fee and will be provided for use at the training site.
  • Participants will be given an hour for lunch (on your own; not provided).
  • Due to the high demand for this course, you must notify Tori Stivers before Tuesday, April 25th, if you cannot attend and want a refund.
