Send your kids on a virtual naturalist adventure at the garden this year! In this series, we will investigate different fields of study in the world of environmental sciences.  Each session will include virtual tours, interviews with experts, and follow-along activities for at home.  Join us as we learn about the wonders of nature and gain valuable insights into careers as future environmental stewards.

March 8th - Horticulture 

Students will learn about horticulture and why this practice is so crucial to all life on earth.  We will take tours of different areas of SBG and meet the curators who manage the largest areas that produce food.  Learn how to make your own preserves and investigate nutrition in the garden and beyond.

April 12th - Climate Change 

Learn the basics on climate change; discuss the difference between weather and climate, how climate change is affecting the world around us, actions we can take to prevent climate change, and basic environmental policy. Students will also get the chance to hear from a real climate scientist and investigate different energy sources.

May 10th - Environmental Art 

Students will view and discuss environmental art; what it is, who makes it, and the significance of using a platform like art to discuss big topics like the environment. Create your own art in nature and see examples of art that has been created to bring awareness and advocacy to various environmental issues.
