Course Description

Every Thursday from October 1 until November 19, marine educators at the UGA Aquarium will host virtual after school programs designed to inspire wonder and curiosity about the coast by featuring different activities and animals. Each program will be held via zoom webinar from 4-4:45 p.m. These After School at the Aquarium programs will include a mix of art, nature journaling, science demonstrations and virtual animal encounters that provide fun learning experiences about the ocean. Children of all ages are welcome, but activities are designed for ages 6-12 years old with an accompanying adult. Adult supervision is required for the duration of the webinar.

Once you add a class to your cart you can select "Close" if you would like to add additional classes to your cart. Whose tracks are those leading out of the marsh? And who ate the mussels, leaving nothing but shells behind? This week we will explore food webs in the salt marsh!  Food webs describe who eats whom. Help us draw out a food web by solving marsh mysteries from the evidence animals leave in the mud.

Our turtle ambassadors help connect aquarium visitors with the habitats that they live in.  Join us this week to virtually meet live eastern box turtles, a gopher tortoise and spotted turtles among others.  Watch a live turtle on the screen and sketch what you see.  We will also share ideas for creating other kinds of turtle themed artwork that you can use to inspire and educate others about coastal conservation.  We hope you’ll create some turtel-y awesome art and share it with others!
