Help Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant to clean up the north end of Wassaw Island! This program happens just in time for spring cleaning to prepare for the arrival of nesting sea turtles and shorebirds. Participants will travel by boat to embark on the cleanup journey after an informative introductory presentation on marine debris. We will be joined by Shorebird Biologist Allie Hayser from Manomet Conservation Sciences who will provide tips on how to protect visiting shorebirds while enjoying coastal areas.

Participants will be provided with buckets and gloves. They will also receive their very own Trawl to Trash bag!

Registration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium.  Children ages 10 and up are welcome but must be accompanied by a registered adult.

This program is offered at a discounted rate thanks to funding from NOAA's Marine Debris Program.

Special Notes:

  • All boat activities are weather-dependent and require appropriate and adequate footwear and clothing.

  • UGA boat captains reserve the right to cancel boat programs in the event of unsafe weather conditions. You will be notified the day before your trip.

Cost:  $15 per person

Registration fees are non-refundable
