0800 | Marine Debris Cleanup on Wassaw Island

Help Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant to clean up the north end of Wassaw Island!  Participants will travel by boat to embark on the cleanup journey after an informative “Intro to Marine Debris” presentation.  Trash that is collected will be identified, sorted, and recorded in the Marine Debris Tracker app.  This app is designed to help participatory scientists make a difference by contributing data on plastic pollution in communities.   

Participants will be provided with buckets, pickers, and gloves.  They will also receive their very own Trawl to Trash bag!   

Registration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium.  Children ages 10 and up are welcome but must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Special Notes:     

• All boat activities are weather-dependent and require appropriate and adequate footwear and clothing.    

• UGA boat captains reserve the right to cancel boat programs in the event of unsafe weather conditions. You will be notified the day before your trip.
