There's been an outbreak. Can your team solve the case?

Join the True to the Dream Academy for a thrilling week of science and investigation! This hands-on STEM enrichment camp is for curious middle schoolers (ages 11-13) ready to step into the role of disease detectives.

Hosted at UGA, this camp challenges you to solve a simulated foodborne illness outbreak. You won't just learn about science—you'll do science.

Your mission as a Microbe Detective:

  • 🕵️‍♂️ Hit the Lab: Learn how to safely grow and identify different types of microbes using real lab equipment and agar experiments.
  • 🧬 Hunt for Clues: Work with your team to analyze bacterial colony data and understand how microorganisms spread.
  • 🛡️ Stop the Spread: Discover the real-world principles of food safety (HACCP) that professionals use to prevent contamination and protect public health.
  • ⚖️ Solve the Case: Use critical thinking and evidence-based reasoning to analyze the data, pinpoint the outbreak's source, and present your findings at the "CSI: Microbe Edition" Science Expo.

This camp is perfect for curious minds who love hands-on experiments and big challenges. All lab materials and safety equipment are provided.

Come put your problem-solving skills to the test and become a scientist on a mission.
