Every community--small or large, rural or urban—offers unique assets that can contribute to its economic growth. This specialty track course will provide county commissioners with the tools needed to identify those assets and resources so that a successful economic development plan may be developed for their county. Small group activities, class discussions, and shared success stories will help you establish strategies to produce an economic development plan that capitalizes on your community’s distinctive assets. It is recommended that the Economic Development core course be taken prior to this class. The other seven courses in the Economic and Community Development specialty track are: Community Revitalization, Global Commerce and Georgia’s Targeted Industries, Land Use and Planning, Managing Growth, Regional Economic Development Training, Tax Incentives and Financing for Economic Development Assets, and Work Force Development and Education.
