0856 - ACCG Transparency in Government

Many commissions have imagined or experienced transparency as difficult, even painful, but the more it is used properly, the ability to govern effectively is increased and the power of those who are misguided is diminished. Transparency in Government is a course in the Citizen Engagement specialty track.  Recognizing transparency as a meaningful mindset while understanding how to embrace it can improve governance and strengthen your effectiveness as a county commissioner. So while you might attend this course to learn about open meetings and open records law, you will leave with a fuller understanding of open government and some useful ideas about how to achieve it. This course will feature small group activities that address realistic situations and guest speakers sharing their expertise. The other seven courses in the Citizen Engagement specialty track are: Civic Engagement, Community and Media Relations, Improving Organizational Effectiveness, Navigating Change, Policy Development and Implementation, Strategic Planning, and The Basics of Bringing People Together.
