Offered in partnership between the Institute of Government and the Georgia Government Finance Officers Association, the Public Finance Leadership Academy (PFLA) will equip new and emerging public sector financial management leaders with the knowledge they need to successfully manage the fiscal affairs and activities of a local government. As a participant in this six-month cohort program, you will learn from your peers, industry professionals and leadership experts to take your skills to the next level.

Credits: Participants will earn 102.10 CPE, 91 Contact Hours and 9.1 CEU

Attendance Policy:  Our classroom training requires attendance during all parts of the instructional program. Instructors are required to take attendance and cannot approve student absences during class time. Please carefully consider your schedule when selecting class dates.

Who Should Attend: Acceptance into the program is selective based on the number of years in your current position, involvement in professional organizations, an applicant essay (why you want to participate in the program and what you hope to gain from the program), supervisor approval, and successful completion of the Level II Finance Officer Certification or completion of Level I with progress towards Level II; alternatively, candidates who hold certain financial professional designations, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), and Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO), will be eligible for consideration without meeting the Level I and Level II requirement .

University of Georgia, Carl Vinson Institute of Government, is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
