It is worth your while to learn about arts, culture and tourism, because the arts and tourism provide jobs and improve the quality of life in your county! In this Quality of Life/Social Issues specialty track course, you will have the opportunity to better assess and understand the implications of commission policy decisions relevant to the arts, culture and tourism by considering the types of assets that potentially exist in your community and the resources available to identify and market those assets.  This course will feature class discussions about what county commissioners can do to create a cohesive community brand working with arts-culture-tourism partners; policies that support arts, culture and tourism; and best practices from around the state. Presentations of real-life success stories will enhance your learning experience and help you think about ways to build community capacity through arts, culture and tourism!  The other seven courses in the Quality of Life/Social Issues specialty track are Complex Community Issues, Demographics and Diversity: Their Impact on Governing, Health and Wellness, Identifying Finding for Community Enhancement, Parks, recreation, and Active Living, Public Health, and Sustainability.
