This advanced specialty course examines the interrelationships between the county’s public safety departments. We will investigate ways commissioners can facilitate the alignment of responsibilities for each public safety agency in their community. The implications of not having clearly delineated roles and responsibilities will be explored as will the benefits of having effective communication between all public safety departments. This advanced course is part of the Public Safety Specialty Track which also includes:  County Law Enforcement; Citizen Public Safety Initiatives; Fire, EMS, and 911; The Courts and the Justice System; Family and Children’s Services; Mental Health and Criminal Justice: Costs and Implication; and Disaster and Emergency Preparedness: Commission Roles and Responsibilities.
