Community vitality is essential to economic development which is a critical concern for all county commissioners, regardless of their community’s size. This advanced course looks at the causes of community deterioration, the benefits of revitalization, the costs of not revitalizing, and tools and methods local governments can use to undertake revitalization, regardless of whether your community is big or small, rural or urban. Using real Georgia examples and interactive learning, participants will explore how to plan for revitalization, who to involve, the importance of cooperation and collaboration, criteria for success, where to get help, and key questions to ask. This course is in the Economic and Community Development specialty track.
