County commissioners are at the frontline of solving today’s complex problems in many areas. The issues may involve several jurisdictions and require the participation of numerous entities to develop the comprehensive and sustainable solutions that may involve a degree of complexity that requires a level of skills and resources that far exceed the capacity of any one entity.

Learner Outcomes

In this six hour advanced course, participants will learn to understand the role of negotiation in the life of a county commissioner, different negotiation strategies, negotiation traps and when to bring a neutral party, a mediator, to facilitate negotiation.
