While sound financial stewardship may or may not have been one of your campaign promises, it is one of your most important responsibilities as a county commissioner. That’s because it is the essential element to providing quality public services for citizens. And effective financial stewardship rests in the commission board’s ability to cultivate efficiencies.  In this advanced specialty track course, participants will come to better understand and recognize the county commissioner’s policy-making role with regard to efficiencies in county finance.  During this six hour session, participants will learn to better identify and assess potential efficiencies as well as craft policies and implement practices that leverage that potential.  The other courses in the Revenue and Finance Specialty Track are Budgeting for Long-term Fiscal Sustainability, Debt Financing, Developing Financial Policies, Federal and State Budgeting, Intergovernmental Agreements and Private Partnerships, Tax and Revenue Policy, and The County Audit Process.
