Have you ever considered that effective communication cultivates citizen engagement and fosters trust and credibility in local government? Or wondered what the optimal way is to get your message out? During this interactive course, we will consider how information is shared and interpreted. Commissioners will learn ways to shape community conversations. Course topics will include identifying stakeholders, developing proactive communication strategies and policies, message delivery and appropriate response. There will be an emphasis on practical application and best practices. This advanced course is offered in the Citizen Engagement Specialty Track.  The other courses in this specialty track are: Civic Engagement, The Basics of Bringing People Together, Transparency in Government, Navigating Change, Improving Organizational Effectiveness, Policy Development and Implementation, and Strategic Planning.  It should also be noted that Crisis Management is offered in the Intergovernmental Relations Specialty Track.
