This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the specific skills required to translate documents pertinent to educational settings including early childhood centers, preschool facilities, and private and public K-12 institutions. This course takes students through the steps necessary to produce accurate translations that take into account the audience’s register and literacy levels, as well as regional language differences. We dedicate this course to exclusively to the Spanish language as we understand that special attention is required when we have over 20 countries where Spanish is spoken, a language that is fluid and ever-changing, and notable differences between the U.S educational system and that of many Latin American countries. Although all of the presentation videos are in English, students are expected to respond to all activities, including discussion board questions and assignments in Spanish.

This synchronous online course, through its learning content, which includes videos and lesson presentations, discussions, written assignments, and weekly online live meetings with the instructor (conducted in Spanish), will provide participants with the principles required to serve as a knowledgeable, accurate, and effective translators in the educational setting.
