Development Authorities
Development Authorities
Having financial resources in place to market communities and incentives to close deals is an integral part of effective economic development efforts. Through Development Authority Training, board members and elected officials gain insights into the roles and responsibilities of boards and their contributions to advancing local economic development.
Development Authority Training
We offer a two-level Development Authority Training program—Basic and Advanced. The Basic training provides the statutorily mandated training required for all development authority board members, while the Advanced training provides more in-depth instruction on how to secure the resources and incentives needed to market your community and close the deal. Course participants receive a certificate for each course completed.
Development Authority Training - Continuing Education
In addition to our two-level Development Authority Training programs - Basic and Advanced, we offer continuing education courses designed to deepen the expertise of development authority board members. These sessions equip participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills to better serve their communities and support local development initiatives.
Continuing education courses fulfill the statutorily mandated two (2) hours of annual training required for members of Development Authorities and Joint Development Authorities. Course topics rotate throughout the year to reflect emerging trends and best practices in economic development. Additionally, three (3) asynchronous online classes are available to provide flexible learning options for busy professionals.
